"If a Halfling ever called me Lou Wine, I'd throw that halfling out a window." - from the memoirs of Lewin Von Treet, Vault: the Land of Stuff and ThingsÂ
Sa'Dades is a city named for an old clan festival before the Bartering in which elves would attempt to converse with as many other people as possible, gathering information they did not already know, and then present that information at the end of the day in a celebration of ignorance. Around food, drink, and song, elves would recite everything they'd learned that day -- the more basic the knowledge, the more ridiculous their having learned it, and the more they would be celebrated. There still exist stories of one man claiming he learned Glainwing's name during the festival. He thought she was called Plainwing.
These festive beginnings live on in the community that grew around them. Sa'Dades is a place where ignorance is celebrated because it means the corresponding mind has so many ways to grow. As such Sa'Dades is renowned for being not only a place of learning, but perhaps paradoxically, a place of leisure and comfort. While places like Ology and Sophivitas may be institutions of scholarly pursuits, they also are known for being busy, bustling places where the pursuit of knowledge is akin to a battle for knowledge. Minds are measured and pitted against one another in such places, but not in Sa'Dades. There are no tests of facts, nor measures of knowledge. Information on the history of the world is passed carelessly between individuals as one may pass news of the weather.
Sa'Dades is more a place for people who wish to grow wise instead of intelligent. The exact dates of the Western Highcroft Rebellion are less desired than a recipe for a good shepherd's pie. And because of this, it has found itself the destination for an incursion of halflings. As lovers of simple lives well lived, most halflings look at Sa'Dades as a proper place to idle away their lives. Over the any years of its existence, the population of Sa'Dades has changed from entirely elven to mostly halfling. And while the elves of Lyr'Lowain,e specially in the north, look upon this was some measure of disdain, the people of Sa'Dades welcome their short companions with open arms.
Of course, the halflings bring with them their own culture, and a penchant for mispronouncing the city's name, often calling it "Say Daddies" because they find that utterly hilarious. Their jovial demeanor is often at odds with the percpetion of elven society, but one often finds the elves of Sa'Dades joining in the mirth, as an exchange of cultures has created a hybrid form of living that is equal parts lazing in comfort and working towards the future.
Part of that work is the accumulation and passing on of life's many lessons. The elderly are valued in Sa'Dades in ways unlike many other parts of Vault due to just how much they have to pass on before their time ends. This respect for the wise and old has made Sa'Dades a bit of a retirement home for many in Lyr'Lowain, though it is not for the faint of heart. The halflings are not going to change their ways, and anyone who comes to Sa'Dades to pass on their life's lessons must first understand that the making of cheese, smoking of pipe weed, herding of sheep, and knitting of fluffy woolen sweaters takes precedence at all times.
Godsway - an old solarium in the forest holds the statues of of the Gods of Creation on Vault. While this is a place of no special religious significance, the statues are beautfiully made and are some of the only depictions of the gods that many people see in their lifetimes, considering most they left or died after the Constellation War.
Vorla's Pryde - Vorla is an elven woman who had dedicated herself to teaching the halfling invaders of the history of Lyr'Lowain, and in so doing, has created a small cult that meets in an abandoned potions shop. This "pryde" is a harmless group of halflings who believe elven history is all important; some of whom wish to someday become elves themselves, which pleases and entertains Vorla endlessly.
Yain'Volan - meaning "reachable skies" in common, this is a place where elves and halfling alike partake in experiments of flight. They build all manner of contraptions to emulate birds and elementals in flight, and while they are mostly failures, everyone has a fun time doing it.
Vorla (she/her) - Elven, leader of a halfling group learning about elves, she is mirthful and genuinely good-mannered, making light of what she considers important lesson
Old Man Girth (he/him) - the oldest halfling in Sa'Dades, he claims his ancestors first came to the city when it was only elves. He is on the precipice of death.
