In a memory, Zeb relived the moment he took a drake egg from the Drakewarden hatchery, jumping his place in line in order to accelerate his initiation into the Drakewardens
Though he ran, he was eventually found and was nearly forced to give back the egg and relinquish any chance of becoming a Drakewarden.
However, just as all hope seemed lost, Zeb whispered the name "Lubomir" to the egg, and it hatched, cementing his place among the protectors of Vad.
Back in the present, Zeb sent a messenger back to Celeste to let her know Darna had been relieved of duty and the draconic creatures had been released.
The group found 600 gold pieces in the cave and Elowyn took the arcane rifle Darna had used to shoot Gift from the sky.
On their way to Jawhara through the mountains, the group came across the crippled black dragon from the cave. It had taken down a dire lion by itself, but was wasteful in its efforts, not eating what it killed.
Zeb tracked it down and tried to teach it the ways of the black dragons of Vad. The youngling didnt listen well, but revealed its name was Sable.
After a few days of travel, the group came upon a worn statue of Wanderwill in the middle of the rarely used mountain path.
The group was able to hear a hiding figure nearby, and found Dunzun, a small drow girl who had been polishing the Wanderwill statue.
Dunzun explained that there was an entrance to the Underdark nearby inside of a temple to Wanderwill.
She was obsessed with dragons, and knew everything there was to know. Upon quesioning, the group learned she was part of a group of drow children who were being trained as dragon riders by a coven of Illithids.
Dunzun wanted to show the group the temple, but when they arrived, they were attacked be a gatekeeper Neolethid, but were able to dispatch it.
Seed destroyed the body of the creature, and began taking on more female-like voice and form.
Within the temple, the group found several dragon eggs, all hatched, and one black dragon egg that looked distressed and broken.
Dunzun explained that was to be her dragon, but the Illithids training her claimed it was defective and she was no longer deserving of the honor, and she had been kicked from the group.
Sable appeared and the group helped Dunzun get to know the black dragon, who she immediately connected with, reminding Zeb of his first words with Lubomir.
Sable and Dunzun ran off together, promising to do amazing things together, and the group continued on their way, arriving in Bal'Aljani in Jawhara.
