The Wild Bunch arrived in the city island of Dorhomme, landing the Hareplane on a leveled out area of mountainous terrain far from the city.
Entering the city, they became acutely aware that every denizen of Dorhomme was blatantly ignoring them. What began as a perception of rude behavior soon became an understanding that something very strange was happening.
They eventually ran into the first person seemingly capable of seeing the group, an elderly gentleman known as Bridge.
Bridge explained that no one was going to acknowledge their existence, as he’d been there for close to 80 years and only had sporadic episodes of anyone seeing him.
The Wild Bunch accompanied Bridge to a convenience store called Grimbledons and began assaulting a patron of the store with summoned corgi puppies and horrific floating face illusions.
The patron eventually broke, screaming at the Wild Bunch to leave him alone, and unfortunately for him, did so in front of a group of Dorhomme officials, who immediately took him into custody.
Apparently, it was against some kind of cultural norm to acknowledge outsiders, and the patron they’d harassed was considered insane for having seen the Wild Bunch and Bridge.
The group followed behind the officials, and found the patron was taken to a holding cell at the back of a communal hall. There they found a few other strung up on the walls, including “Jeremy,” the last man who had acknowledged Bridge’s existence.
Jeremy, whose actual name was Hungle, had given into his insanity, and spoke with the Wild Bunch openly. Apparently, the people of Dorhomme believed they were the last remaining people on Vault and that some sort of cataclysm had killed everyone else. They believed this so vehemently that they considered anyone who acknowledged otherwise to be insane.
To this end, the people of Dorhomme excused and explained away any behavior that conflicted with their worldview.
In the chamber where the prisoners were kept was a chair that could modify memories, and when the officials came to feed Hungle, the group helped him escape.
As Hungle ran off into the city, the officials finally acknowledged the group, calling them “demons” who had risen up from the earth.
