Star and Scale found themselves in the city of Dis on the plane of Dis, the second layer of the Nine Hells, in search of Zizzifek to get Lubomir back from the devil.
Exile said she knew where to go and brougt the group to a devil who took bets on the Resplendant Halls combats, where Zizzifek set up fights to thrill crowds and express the artistry of violence.
There the group met Zizzifek's champion, a horned devil named Col, who agreed to take the group to the Resplendant Halls in order to create a challenge for Zizzifek.
On the way, a Yuan-ti approached Col and asked if he was planning something for that evening, and Col reluctantly responded he was "executing on his plan" that night, which seemed to make the Yuan-ti happy. The group decided not to dig into what that might mean.
Arriving at the halls, the group met with Zizzifek and Zeb challenged Zizzifek's champion Col to a joust. Zeb would ride Lubomir and Col would ride a nightmare. Zeb knew he would win because May had made him a saddle in which he could not be knocked off.
Zizzifek agreed to the joust, but said Lubomir was preoccupied and could not be used by Zeb. He'd need to find another mount.
The group found their way to a Nightmare Breedery where a devil was using literal nightmares, empowering them with flame, and creating the beasts right there and then.
Zeb traded a magical puppet for the creature and began connecting with it, knowing he'd have to ride it that evening in order to free Lubomir.
Outside the breedery, a group of devils approached, claiming they had business with Exile.
Exile prompty used the Jade Dagger to run away, and Star & Scale cleaned up the mess, scaring off the devils through Garrick's power, but leaving one of them for quesioning.
Gaatok, who was left behind, claimed he worked for a Lord who did business with Zizzifek, and that his Lord was taking interest in that evening's bouts.
Zeb continued pairing himself to the nightmare, and ended up getting a breakthrough when he allowed the violent creature to stomp Gaatok to death, an act that Garrick and May supported, but Seed seemed to be uncomfortable with.
Back at the Replendant Halls, the group made ready for Zeb's fight with Col.
Garrick was able to discern from the Yuan-ti in attendance that Col was planning on getting out of his contract with Zizzfek by throwing the battle with Zeb and dying that night. This seemed like good news.
Unfortunately, Col came out riding Lubomir, who now had a darker crimson tone to his scaled, one eyes red, and horns protruding from many places around his body.
This was bad news since the mount died with the rider when the fight was over.
Additionally, the lord of Dis, Dispater, showed up to watch the fight, making any intereference from the group almost impossible.
Zeb handled the fight, crushing Col due to the devil's lack of desire to fight, and managed to save Lubomir by dismounting Col and taking up the saddle on Lubomir, making the drake his mount instead of Col's.
With one final push, Zeb and Lubo killed Col, and the nightmare Zeb had brought died with him.
Zizzifek seemed angry he'd been outsmarted, but before he could rouse his devils to take revenge, Exile showed back up with the rest of the Harrowguard, brought from Vault, and Ezekiel shot Zizzifek right through his eye.
Zizzifek decided to stall any hostilities as the Harrowguard prepared for violence, and the devil ran, allowing Star & Scale and the rest of the Harrowguard to use Exile's rifts to head back to Harrow Hall on Vault.
