As General Spark gathered to her resources from around Vault for the war against Ziggurat in Raesh, heroes from the world over answered the call for various reasons.
Haygar and Brand, two old veterans in General Spark's contingent, awaited the arrival of Ursula and Hemingway, a duo from Coven up in Highcroft. Arriving via the Geist Gate opened by Delphina near Lantern Light, the two new arrivals were escorted to speak with Spark at Love Letter.
There, General Spark asked Ursula about her relationship with Madeline Grail, the head witch in Coven, to which Ursula stated she has passing familiarity.
Elsewhere, the fungril emissary Pearl and her companion Golmer trekked through the Green Heart forest on their way to Love Letter, and stumbled upon a lost goblin working for the Gossamer Gazette named Dink Dunk.
Unfortunately, they also stumbled upon a small army of Ziggurati headed in the same direction. The trio outran the incoming enemy attack and arrived in Love Letter directly ahead of the battle to rouse the camp and warn Spark of the incoming danger.
The Ziggurat forces arrived and Haygar rallied the newcomers as part of his detachment. Thus, Haygar, Brand, Ursula, Hemingway, Pearl, Golmer, and Dink formed ranks and defended their portion of Love Letter successfully, forming the group Haygar's Heroes in the process.
It soon became evident how the Ziggurat forces had pushed so far east when they had never been able to do so before: a large living vessel, like a Ziggurati sky-whale, had carried the troops over the waters to the island, and General Spark was able to destroy it, but severely hurt herself in the process.
Sadcap, Spark's second-in-command, arrived to tend to her, and Pearl felt the mycelian network for which the fungril were known was utterly voided by Sadcap, and that void had attempted to reach into her when she tried speaking with Sadcap.
Golmer made the connection that the type of mushrooms growing on Sadcap were part of the reason, though it was unclear if the Clank was infected or if the mushrooms were the result of some other reason.
The group told the group that she had created a dream tether between them and the other forces within their company so they may always be connected with the information they needed to make the right decisions in the field.
Before passing out, she also informed Haygar that Ursula may be the key to winning this war, so to keep a close eye on her while she explored Raesh.
Haygar's Heroes were informed that the medicine Spark needed was in a place called Standing Stone on the mainland, and they'd need to travel there to retrieve the waters that would get her back on her feet.
