The Gaping Maw of Sound tried to ease tensions between Visuvius and Tatta, who was now outed as being Gond, the multiverse god of crafting, but it soon became apparent to both of the gods that Talus was on his way with the Divinaxiom.
While Tatta attempted to run away, Visuvius told the group she only needed a few more worshippers to regain her full strength and stand up to Talus when he arrived.
While Obbie and Smithee were on board with dedicating themselves to this goddess of disorder, the rest of the group was not, and so Talus arrived without Visuvius having the strength to stand against him.
Talus killed Visuvius, and then went after the fleeing Tatta.
Kaos attempted to save Tatta by casting Feign Death, but Talus saw through the rouse and killed Tatta as well.
Having finished his tasks, he thanked Kit for calling him to the Phantom Plains, and when Kit asked for something in return, Talus gave her a staff called the Spider Assembler, a magical artifact that can construct and repair any device or item that it broken apart. Talus apparently used it for himself when damaged, but claimed it would also work in constructing the Sword of Tyr.
When the party felt the device wasn't payment enough, Talus also claimed he felt a demonic presence within a sword nearby, but couldn't tell where exactly. He told the Gaping Maw they could find it if they wanted something further.
Talus left, claiming his next stop was Thalassa to find Lot, and then on to Crooked Post for Doomblade.
The group explored the wilderness in search of the sword Talus mentioned, but couldn't find it. Smithee decided to reach out to the demonic presence, their having recently been inhabited by an aspect of Bane, in an effort to invite the demonic presence in for exchange in finding it.
The gambit worked, and the group was able to locate a sword embedded in the chest of a Tiefling at the bottom of a canyon.
The Gaping Maw of Sound retrieved the sword, and Smithee was now bound to it. The demon within claimed all it wanted was to be returned to a place in Crooked Post called Effi's Pages, and if done, would break whatever bond was now in place.
The group agreed and set off towards Crooked Post.
