As Star and Scale approached Ology, Elowyn thought back on her times as a student in the research city, specifically the times her, Fbhlthyl, and Tobias Tevek would celebrate breakthrough, especially the one in which Elowyn helped Tobias learn that several of the planets in the night sky formed an arc.
On the lift up to the welcome courtyard of Ology, the group ran into three Gully Dwarves dresse dup on a trench coat, obviously attempting to give the impression they were one, larger person.
Markus marked the oddity, but decided not to reveal them to any authority due to his opinion they could do no real harm. When the lift stopped, the gully dwarves were called upon as a new student named "Kiff VanDenHuval" and taken off to begin their research, whatever it may be.
Elowyn lead the way to Quill's Observatory, where the group found her old friend Tobias, who had become the Astronomy Headmaster during Elowyn's absence.
Tobias asked the group to help him get the help of the "Robot and Mecha" workshop in Ology to repair a part to the astronomy tower, a projection mapping system that could help Elowyn map out where and when a celestial alignment would be happening in the next several years.
Star and Scale instead claimed May could fix it, and a dubious Tobias took May to be tested at the workshop while the rest of the group was given keys to their own personal rooms and a shared blank workshop.
Each member of Star and Scale left to establish their personal rooms: rooms that would form from whatever would give each indvidual the best rest and rejuvenating experience in order to work hard in a workshop.
While Eden went with an austere meditative standard, Zeb recreated his old monastery courtyard, and Markus and Elowyn created spaces that could double as workplaces while they were away from whatever workshop they chose.
Seed's room, however, was left closed as soon as he created it, and he asked that no one would go in it. He decided to room with Garrick and Zeb in the meantime.
As the group explored Ology, they saw May and Tobias on their way back to work on the mapping system, May apparently having passed her test in very little time.
Star and Scale soon came upon a conflict playing out in a courtyard in which a religious order known as the Beneficiaries were conducting a service which was interrupted by a rival group known as "Erudians."
The Erudians brandished weapons in an effort to frighten the Beneficiaries into stopping their worship service, claiming they were ruining the dream of Ology, but surprisingly, the unarmed Beneficiaries attacked, and two of them were killed in the resulting skirmish.
The Erudians ran off, and Star and Scale soon learned the Beneficiaries had wanted the attack to happen, as they gathered their two “martyrs” and left the scene with less despair than expected.
The decided to begin their search for a means of traveling Vault more easily by going to the Aeronautics wing of Ology, where they met Headmaster Ready Vigil, and Blanca del Pozo, a Changeling engineer working with synthetic materials to replicate flight found in nature, including draconic flight.
Eden decided to show off how she manages flight with draconic wings, and Blanca eagerly accepted her offer to help fabricate a better set of wings.
Zeb hesitated, however, in offering his own help, feeling the distinct pain of not having Lubomir there with him.
Markus spoke to Zeb about fighting through that pain, and of the day they would all storm the gates of hell in order to get his friend back. Zeb steeled himself, and joined the Aeronautics team.
With Zeb and Eden engaged in their work, Elowyn decided to learn more about Animancy, the magic of spiritual power and the soul, anticipating its usefulness in helping to free Glainwing.
Within the Animancy wing, Elowyn met many scholars from the birthplace of Animancy, Jawhara, where it was still practiced, if not as respected as it once was.
Eden and Zeb spent time connecting with Blanca as a Changeling, and learned more about the solitary nature of most Changelings, and how Zen and Eden were uniquely singular in their approach to showing their natural forms together.
Markus decided to get a start on his Omnia given job of finding a long-range teleportation mage, and found the Astramancy workshop.
There he learned about the teleportation circles across Vault, and also learned about an Astramancer named Rosario, who specialized in distance teleporting, and lived somewhere called the Hollow Hills.
After a handful of days working in their respective workshops, the group reconvened when May finished work on the mapping system for the observatory.
However, when they arrived to see her work, they found Jaspin Smithy, an old acquaintance of Elowyn’s, who claimed that as of this very day, he was the new Grand Headmaster of Ology, and that he planned to make many changes to Ology.
In order to verify this claim, the group went to the Grand Headmaster’s office to find the former headmaster Thornton packing his bags.
He said the Benefactor itself had asked him to step down and make way for Jaspin, but he did not plan on sitting idly by as Jaspin ruined everything he’d worked to create in Ology.
