Arriving back in Wilder, the Wild Bunch made their way to the Hareplane only to find two individuals arguing in front of their aircraft.
One was named Vik Pacua, a shark kindred who served Uqupa as a disciple. The second was a sea-elf named Balastra, a representative from the Western Highcroft Rebellion who had been trailing Vik.
Vik claimed he was there to gather the oar the group owed to Uqupa, and proved he was telling the truth. Meanwhile, Balastra also asked for the oar, claiming it was important for her rebellion in order to free her city from the vice-like grip of Caim in Highcroft.
Winnifred felt a divine compulsion to give the oar to Vik, which he soon realized was a result of his resurrection at the hands of Mag, the creation god of the wilds.
Vik claimed Uqupa and Mag planned on evacuating Trine and then wiping it from the face of Vault to restore order to the natural world which was currently out of balance.
Trying to buy time, the group demanded to speak to Uqupa himself, but Vik surprised them by beginning to summon the demigod to Wilder.
A skirmish broke out in which Izala, through her automaton, pushed Vik off the high boughs, sending him plummeting down to the ground of Wilder.
During this skirmish, Winnifred tried to steal the oar for Vik, but Tricks was able to hide it in a bag of holding.
After the fight, Tricks gave the bag of holding to Balastra surreptitiously and told her where she could find the Students of Life and Death who were looking for the final oar.
However, upon entering the Hareplane, they found the main battery was missing, and Balastra said two elven nobles had been on the ship while she'd been staking it out, and left with a glowing orb just a day earlier.
