As Haygar's Heroes made ready to depart for the war zone, they consulted with Hubba, the halfling man responsible for teleporting troops back and forth from Love Letter.
Hubba informed them that the teleportation circle the army used in Old Bark Cemetery was somehow damaged, and the group would need to fix it before normal operations could proceed.
Taking a ferry over, which was overburdened as Hubba's magic wavered, caused mutliple members of the party to discard their armor in order to keep the ferry afloat.
Arriving at the cliffs below Old Bark Cemetery, Haygar's Heroes walked the switchback, while Dink Dunk began his soldier training with Brand by climbing the cliffs without equipment.
When he predictably fell, Hubba used a good but of his remaining magic to keep him from harm.
At the top, the group found the teleportation circle was covered with Ziggurati pulp.
Ursula spoke with the pulp through her arcane aptitude, and discovered that it had been created within the very sky whale type creature Spark had killed back in Love Letter. The group surmised the pulp had some anti-magical properties, and had been intentionally targetting the circle to disrupt the army's movements.
After clearing the pulp, Hubba arrived and promised to investigate further as the group made their way to Standing Stones to get Spark's medicine.
On the way, Ursula told the group about the first time she realized spirits existed within all living things, including the trees, which really sparked Dink's imagination as a lover of all things trees.
Arriving in Standing Stones, Haygar's Heroes found the place deserted, which would be normal but for the fact a contingent of guards were meant to be guarding the pool of water at the top of the ruined city.
The group found those guards dead, all but one, an old friend of Haygar and Brand, an elven woman named Nina, who was meant to be on duty but was missing.
The group decided to search for Nina rather than leave her to whatever fate may have befallen her.
