The Gaping Maw of Sound decided to make a stop at the Halfway There Inn on their way to Crooked Post and decided to scry on Doomblade. They saw the god of creation laying, arms crossed, asleep in a dark and cramped place.
At the Halfway There Inn, the Gaping Maw of Sound found another band was playing on the stage of the tavern and they had taken the group's name. LeoJim caused them to mess up through illusory spells, which cut their set short.
When confronting the actually decent metal band, the group threatened them, which lead to a suggestion that the two bands battle with their music and the winner would get to keep the name.
The group squared the event with the owner of the tavern, Bazil, and the next night the battle took place. And while the imposters were good, the actual Gaping Maw of Sound was far, far better, breaking out a new song that was a 9-minute odyssey through their instrumental phase, now that Yaen was not there to provide vocals.
With the win under their belts, the Gaping Maw attempted to make peace with the band they'd just embarrassed, but the beating was so bad that the lead singer and guitarist of the other group, a tiefling named Kimeeko, decided to give up, especially after the crowd at the tavern had gotten so rowdy that they destroyed the imposters' instruments.
The fake band left in disgrace, and the group regretted the results, but there was no arguing with the band's effectiveness.
The next day, the group left the Halfway There Inn with a new clout and made their way to Crooked Post.
Upon arriving, they found Effi's Pages, a book shop the demon within Smithee's sword wanted to go to, and spoke with the owner, a halfling named Effi who had plenty of recommendations for the readers in the group.
Eventually, LeoJim was able to make his way into the undergroud secret room beneath the shop that contained the sleeping Doomblade within a coffin. LeoJim tried multiple ways to kill Doomblade, but none of it worked.
After a few minutes of trying, Thrax appeared to LeoJim and told him that Doomblade was not someone who should be killed. They'd need Doomblade awake to fight against Talus now that he was so powerful with the Divinaxiom.
Thrax encouraged LeoJim to put his assassin heritage as a Shadar-Kai to good use against Talus instead of Doomblade, and hinted at what would happen if LeoJim continued to try to kill gods.
Meanwhile, Kaos was kicked out of Effi's Pages for mandhandling Effi, and as LeoJim teleported outside to join the group, they went to the Mythril Dream to regroup.
LeoJim and Smithee met in secret to discuss what happeded with Doomblade and Thrax, and the rest of the group argued with Pinstruck, the owner of the bar, about whether or not they could fight robots out back.
The mayor of the town, Bogul, arrived and threatened Kaos in the most friendly was possible for the issues with Effi earlier that day.
As the group discussed what their next move should be with Doomblade, two Tieflings walked up to Kaos, calling him Thomas, and asking what he was doing in Crooked Post. Kaos's parents had found him.
