Ser Balen, when confronted by the group, immediately gave the rod back to Kit and transformed into Mr. Smith right in front of them. The transformation was sudden and surprising enough that the group moved on from the incident of Ser Balen stealing the device.
The group messed around with the telescoping rod for a while, and realized it may be part of the Sword of Tyr. They attempted to slot the small lens they'd gained in Caim into it and it fit perfectly.
Havyn claimed she knew something about the device, but they'd be better served talking to a woman named Dwea in Torn's Rest about it, which just so happened to be where Havyn was taking them.
Along the way, Havyn explained the political climate of the Kindred Isle, including the history that lead to the Kindred settling there in the first place. She explained that she would have been the leader already if it weren't for her faulty memory, a sad result of her age.
Havyn also told the group about the Crown of the Kindred, which she said made just as much of a difference as who was wearing it; and without it, there wasn't much point in electing anyone.
The group agreed to be Havyn's public relations department, perhaps agreeing to put on a concert, so help people realize that she didn't need to lead alone -- she could create a council with the best Kindred for the job.
The group arrived at the Untroubled Waters amid endless miles of rot, having to navigate their way through it night after night. They saw, for the first time, the tower that had recently appeared near Torn's Rest, though they didn't veture near it.
Havyn lead the Gaping Maw of Sound to the Torn Conclave, a small communtiy on the southern shores of the Untroubles Water.
Within, Havyn claimed she had things to do and left the group to track down Dwea and hear about their device.
The group sent Syd to look after Havyn, just in case.
Within the Conclave, they found wondrous items of mechanical intrigue, but all of it mixed in with the rot in a way that felt like acceptance.Â
They found Dwea, an Aarokocran woman, and her workshop, and saw she was hard at work on weaponry using a massive 40 ft lens attached the to machinery within. The group immediately identified it as another part of the Sworf of Tyr.
Dwea was eager to help the group, claiming to have stolen the lens from Wilder very recently. She was excited to tell them there were 5 pieces in total, and when they had all 5, they'd then need to mount it at the place it was meant to be. But before she could explain more, the group expressed they were looking to Kill Thrax with it, which Dwea seemed to like. But when they said they wanted to kill Bane too, Dwea shut up quick.
Through coersion, the group was told Dwea, and all of the Torn Conclave, followed Bane, because he was the source of the rot itself.
