The Gaping Maw of Sound had little time to react as Pericles emerged from the woods surrounding their campsite, and the enraged griffon from Roost, blinded by fury of his daughter's supposed capture, attacked the group.
The Gaping Maw was able to fight off Pericles, and the newcomer, LeoJim, having no understanding of Ellie's relationship to Pericles, ended him with a killing blow.
Ellie was inconsolable watching her father die, and ran to his lifeless body. While Obby tried her best to comfort the now orphaned griffon, Ellie found the fire crest that was embedded in Pericles's chest, and placed it in her own.
Ellie grew in size, and a fire-red color tinged her wings across her body. She was able to control the rage that seemed to have taken over her father with the help of Obby reminding her that she still had a family in the group.
The next morning, Balastra showed up, the representative of the Western Highcroft Rebellion, having just met with the Wild Bunch in Wilder, seeking the second-to-last Wavebender Oar for the rebellion.
After stiff negotiation, she paid for the oar, but LeoJim was able to deftly remove the bag of holding given to Balastra by Tricks from the Wild Bunch that contained both oars.
The group headed towards Heron's Harbor, with Balastra none the wiser, for now, and looked for a ship to take them to the Phantom Plains to seek one of the final pieces of the Sword of Tyr.
While Smitty and LeoJim has a competition of thievery in the busy port, Obby, Kaos, Syd, and Tatta found a ship heading to Queen's Meet with a wealthy merchant who wanted the band to play for his child, Esquire.
Meanwhile, Kit found a ship he recognized: one belonging to Lord Marquis Duke Baron King.
Kit spoke with Fabiola, LMDBK's right-hand-woman, and learned the party's goals and the goals of the Lord Marquis Duke Baron King were aligned -- they both wanted to use the Sword of Tyr to kill Thrax.
The group reconvened and decided to go with Fabiola, and learned there was an additional piece of the Sword of Tyr in the Home That Cannot Endure. Additionally, Fabiola told them the weapon was meant to be mounted on the Tower That Sees the Sunrise.
As the group boarded the Tantalizing Tundra, Fabiola introduced them to her navigator and only other crew member, a jester named Detester, who immediately caused a spacial anomaly, and transported the entire ship and everyone aboard to the southern coast of the Phantom Plains.
